Weekly Pizza Lunch: The Spicy Spring at Prince Street Pizza

pepperoni pizza
This is one of the best square slices in NYC right now.

I love when I have to pick up pizza supplies for the Margot’s Pizza pop-ups. That’s because Prince Street Pizza is close enough to my usual restaurant-supply stores that I drop in for a slice. And the slice I get is the Spicy Spring. The round pies are fantastic here, too, but the square pizza is SOMETHIN’ ELSE ENTIRELY. I can’t resist the Spicy Spring’s perfectly cupped pepperoni, charred crisp around the edges, cradling a meaty thimbleful of pepperoni grease. Grab one—and a stack of napkins—and know pepperoni pizza perfection, pal.

Prince Street Pizza slices
From left: a Margherita slice and a Spicy Spring, from November 13, 2014. This is one of the few slice shops that I think does a good rendition of a New York–style “Margherita” pizza by the slice.
