Listen to me blab about pizza on the Serious Eats ‘Special Sauce’ podcast

And not just me! You also get Scott “Pizza Tours” Wiener and Ed Levine talking about the crusty, saucy, cheesy stuff that everyone loves. It’s a 3-part series: Episode 1, Episode 2, Episode 3.

This discussion came out of a crazy (fun) project Ed roped me and Scott into. He wanted to revisit his old State of the Slice 2002 story he did for the New York Times and see how the New York slice was holding up in 2018.

We toured, together and separately, all the boroughs, to get an overview on how New York’s indigenous pizza style was faring.

There’s a epic post coming to SE at some point soon(ish). I co-wrote it with Ed and am stoked to see it go up. Until then, have a listen to the podcast eps above. I had a lot of fun talking with Scott and Ed. Scott is the pre-eminent pizza scholar—nobody knows pizza like he does—and Ed is great at steering the conversation and keeping 3 hours’ worth of blabbage interesting (along with a fantastic podcast editor, who I know cut out a lot of dead ends and true blabbage).

One great thing that comes out of this post is that, with Scott’s help, we were able to correct a lot of the apocryphal slice lore that’s made its way out there. I’ll be the first to admit that a lot of what is out there is thanks to me and the very big pizza megaphone I had in Slice.

Anyway, I’ll update you once that post comes out. Until then, give the podcast a listen.

Again: Episode 1, Episode 2, Episode 3

Hasta la pizza,
Adam
